For Hearing Individuals

Video Relay Service (VRS) is an innovative new technology that allows you to speak with any deaf or hard of hearing individual. The person you are calling only needs high-speed Internet connection and a video connection, such as a videophone or Web-cam. VRS is the next generation of the federally funded text-based relay service. The difference is that today, deaf or hard of hearing persons can now communicate over the phone with sign language, instead of by typing. If you know someone with a hearing loss, please let them know about our services. We will provide them with a free videophone!

You don't need any special equipment to call a deaf or hard of hearing individual through Video Relay Service. A standard telephone is required, and you simply dial the deaf or hard of hearing person's Personal 800 Number and you'll be directly connected to them. That means that making phone call is finally as easy for deaf or hard of hearing people as it is for hearing people.

If you don't have the personal 800 Number of the deaf or hard of hearing person you wish to call, you may still use our VRS to contact a web-cam or videophone user.

Simply dial VRS at 1-866-WANT-VRS or 1-866-926-8877.

You can then provide one of the following to connect to the deaf or hard of hearing person’s video equipment:

  1. Assigned Video Mail extension number (i.e. X86432)
  2. IP address (i.e. 192.168.xxx.xxx)
  3. Full name of registered CSDVRS User
